The oddest celestial event? This year there's an easy winner. It's the millennium's first total lunar eclipse completely visible from all of North America and Hawaii. And whoa, beat the drums, it happens right on the solstice.

Bob, I love your articles. Your latest article about the lunar eclipse on Dec 21st has inspired the Masters Swim team that I belong to ... we are going to have a swim workout during the total eclipse in an outdoor (heated) competition pool at a major university ... backstroke of course :-)
