NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) offers something the other spacecraft can’t match — the ability to take images in rapid succession so that scientists can combine them into seamless time-lapse movies. For example, SDO’s Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) captures eight full-disk solar images every 10 seconds. And AIA takes those images at 10 different wavelengths, from visible light to the extreme ultraviolet. We present here two videos compiled from AIA images.
