Inside Saturn's erupting moon
The Cassini spacecraft flew past Enceladus once in August and twice in October, returning some of the sharpest images of the active moon yet.
The Cassini spacecraft's Equinox Mission began in July 2008. This extended mission commenced when the 4-year-long primary mission ended in June. The Equinox Mission will follow up on many of the discoveries made during the previous 4 years. And perhaps none of those discoveries surprised planetary scientists more than finding geological activity on the small moon Enceladus.
