Have you ever recommended a movie or restaurant to a friend, co-worker, or relative, only to have him or her say later that the experience was awful? It’s upsetting to know that your well-intended suggestion caused someone to waste precious time and money. You even might have been a bit miffed that this individual lacks your obviously superior cinematic or gastronomic taste.

And herein lies the crux of the problem: When it comes to making any kind of recommendation, what floats your boat may sink someone else’s.
