The globular cluster M68 in Hydra lies at lower left of this image; at upper right is the variable star HD 109799. In 2021, astronomers confirmed the latter to be a member of the γ Doradus class of variable stars, which pulsate with waves driven by gravity, like those like on the surface of water.
