It began with an e-mail from Bill Cromwell of Ft. Louden, Pennsylvania, who felt that he could “get in the zone” and sense the apparent westerly drift of the stars with Earth’s rotation. I mentioned Bill’s observation in a column I wrote about Earth-sky motions in the February issue. The article elicited many responses from readers.
