The Northeast Astronomy Forum and Space Expo (NEAF) is celebrating 34 years in Suffern, New York, just 40 minutes outside of New York City. This two-day event, taking place April 5 and 6 at Rockland Community College, features 120 telescope and equipment vendors, talks from industry experts, and opportunities to do your own solar viewing.
Vendors include Celestron, Oberwerk, Sky-Watcher, ZWO, and many other top manufacturers from around the world. The huge showroom will offer an opportunity for visitors to test and purchase the latest products.
NEAF is also a great place to see talks by top industry experts. Peter King, a CBS News correspondent who covers space and human spaceflight, was recently added as a speaker. The full list of astronomers and scientists scheduled to speak at the event will be announced on NEAF’s website soon.
NEAF also includes the Northeast Pro/Am Conference (NPAC), which features free classes taught by astronomy experts. This year will feature talks from SETI Institute astronomer Ariel Graykowski, Roxanne Karmin of the International Occultation Timing Association, and AAVSO Exoplanet Section leader Dennis Conti.
Other opportunities for fun during your visit include planetarium shows, mirror making demonstrations, and solar viewing with specialized telescopes. Kids can enjoy STEM education workshops and activities.
Tickets are available for $39.00 for one-day admission and $70.00 for two-day admission. Discounts for students and other packages are also available. Children 12 and under are admitted free with adult accompaniment.
