The familiar figure of the Triangulum Galaxy (M33) looks a bit different but is still recognizable in this portrait taken entirely with an Hα filter and ten hours of exposure on a 14-inch scope. Isolating the Hα data reveals the pockets of heated hydrogen gas dotting its spiral arms, where stars are being born.
