The Science of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Michael Hanlon, 208 pages; Macmillan Publishing, 2005; hardcover, $24.95

Any fan of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy that is looking for information describing the physiology of the Babel fish will not find it in Michael Hanlon’s book. Its pages do not ponder the possible design of an Infinite Improbability Drive nor the geology of an ocean world with a single island named France. Instead, it is an overview of nearly every popular scientific question in vogue today. Hanlon’s book even explores a few questions outside the realm of science.
