20th Century Fox released a new trailer for Hidden Figures that gives more insight into the on-screen story of the hidden women of color who helped humans soar into space.
Based on the book of the same title, Hidden Figures is the untold story about Katherine Johnson, the African American mathematician, physicist, and space scientist who calculated flight trajectories for Project Mercury and the Apollo 11 flight to the Moon.
The story follows Johnson and her colleagues, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, as they manage both gender and race issues to work on one of the greatest operations in history: launching astronaut John Glenn into orbit.
The movie features Taraji P. Henson as Katherine Johnson, Octavia Spencer as Dorothy Vaughan, and Janelle Monáe as Mary Jackson. The movie opens in theaters on January 13, 2017.
