Two planets put on great shows this month. While Mercury climbs into view in the early evening, beautiful Saturn remains visible all night. The evening sky also offers asteroid Iris near the Pleiades star cluster and an 11th-magnitude comet, P/2001 Q2 (Petriew). February mornings introduce Jupiter and Mars, along with a promise of better views later this year.
