In January, at the American Astronomical Society (AAS) meeting in Austin, Texas, University of Hawaii astronomers James Heasley and Paul Price unveiled this mosaic of the Andromeda Galaxy (M31). The image comprises 36 1.4-gigapixel images taken through green, red, and infrared filters December 2, 2007, during the second commissioning run of the Pan-STARRS 1 (PS1) telescope located on Haleakala, Maui.
