The BUFFALO survey aims to use six rich galaxy clusters, including Abell 370 (pictured), as gravitational lenses to magnify the light of distant galaxies, helping researchers study the early universe in unprecedented detail. The curved streak of light just left of center in this image is actually five separate, warped images of the same distant galaxy.
