Colorful region
The field of NGC 6559 in Sagittarius shows red glowing emission nebulae, dark absorption nebulae, and blue reflection nebulae of dust, surrounded by the stars formed from them. At the center of the scene are IC 1274 and IC 1275, circular red regions separated by a rim of blue reflection nebulosity featured above the large dark nebula B91. At the upper right corner is NGC 6559, a region of clouds rich in hot glowing gas. The blue nebula visible is reflecting light from a group of massive blue stars.
