This diagram shows the stars out to 16.2 light-years from the Sun. Two-thirds are M-class dwarf stars. The numbers are the distances in light-years, as measured by the European Space Agency’s Hipparcos satellite. The sizes shown are scaled relative to each other, not to the distances between them.
