On August 25, 2003, when Spitzer Space Telescope launched aboard a Delta II Heavy rocket, an infrared camera two miles away captured the blast off. Normally at this distance, the rocket would be difficult to see, but the launch is very bright in the infrared video.

During this 45-second clip, the clouds appear to light up and because the clouds are scattering the bright infrared light of the hot rocket engines.
